TWICE A YEAR FOR LIFE EXAMINATIONS FOR PETS
Based on recommendations from the American Veterinary Medical Association, the American Animal Hospital Association and the American Association of Feline Practitioners, the doctors at Capitaland Animal Hospital recommend that all pets receive a thorough wellness examination every 6 months. Pets age approximately seven times faster than people, and that means significant changes can occur in a relatively short period of time.
Most dogs and cats reach adulthood by the age of two, are middle-aged by the age of four and are considered a senior (in the last third of their expected lifespan) as early as the age of 7.
By examining your pet every 6 months, your veterinarian has a greater chance of detecting diseases and problems early. This gives you the chance of treating or preventing disease or ‘heading things off at the pass’. Our goal at Capitaland Animal Hospital is to increase the number of quality years you share with your pet.
During each physical examination we will offer an assessment of the disease risks your pet faces based on age, environment and lifestyle. We will design a vaccine protocol specific to your pet, and will separate them between your visits to reduce the risk of a vaccine reaction. If health risks are identified, we will recommend screening tests, x-rays or other diagnostic tests as needed. Each visit gives you the opportunity to discuss other concerns such as nutrition, behavior, or travel with your veterinarian.
As always, our goal is to prevent disease and help your pet enjoy a long, happy and healthy life!
