We live in the Northeast and are no strangers to snow and ice. We commonly use ice melts on our walkways and many of us walk our dogs on roads that have been sprayed with salt or other products. But are any products safe? It all depends upon exposure. The following article lists several ice melt products and their potential toxicities. A good practice in winter is to wipe your pet’s feet after being outside. Keep hair between the paws trimmed to reduce salt (and snow and mud!) from accumulating.
