Internal medicine encompasses the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of a vast array of diseases we see in dogs and cats and small mammals. We start with a thorough history and a comprehensive physical exam every 6-12 months looking for changes and anomalies. Laboratory testing is a mainstay of internal medicine.
Along with regular wellness exams and testing, you should call for an appointment if your pet is losing weight, has a change in appetite, is lethargic or seems painful, has a fever, has a change in hair coat or if you feel your pet just seems to be doing poorly.
