Your cat is a hunter and wants a challenge or he’ll get bored, stressed or overweight. We commonly place food in a convenient bowl but this makes eating way too easy. Numerous studies show that weight gain and stress behaviors are more likely to develop in indoor cats that do not have stimulation for play, physical activity and hunting. There are numerous ways to engage your cat and provide what is known as ‘environmental enrichment’. Set aside regular time to play with or groom your cat – other studies show that cats bond best with owners who speak and cuddle with them.
